I came across this heat-map at Google today:

Google Heat Map

This “heat map” illustrates these ideal placements for content on a sample page layout. The colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance).

This heat map offers more than just information on where to place ads. Some great insight into the general layout and area performance of a web page is offered here.

Proper layout planning and effective consideration of your ideal traffic flow are very crucial steps in the web design process. Without a properly developed interface, you site will never do as well as it could. One of the most important steps in designing an effective website is to consider what you want your visitors to do, and how you want them to do it.

Websites should be built around your visitor’s desired actions, and no site should ever expect their visitors to convert themselves.

It appears you are new around here. You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or register for email updates. Thanks for visiting!
