Did You Forget to Say “Thank You”?
customer service, touchpointsYou may hear it in a cursory tone around you all the time. People in customer service positions who matter-of-factly say “thank you” after you spend money in their store. We don’t need to harp on the importance of saying those two important words to your customers so much as we need to make sure it is communicated correctly.
Saying “thank you” comes in many different ways. You can encourage employees to hand write the words on a receipt to personalize the thanks. A warm handshake with the words can go well above and beyond customer expectations and create a distinctly memorable experience people will want to have again.
It may seem like a bit of trouble to encourage employees to express thanks sincerely but the best way to make the message hit home is to lead by example. Offer heartfelt thanks to those who make it possible for you to run a business and watch it spill over to customers. Give regular reminders to sales staff of the importance of letting customers know you appreciate them at the point of sale, not just down the road at holiday time.
