It is commonly referred to as one of the best ways to get your marketing information out to people but it is worth ample consideration whether word of mouth actually helps or harms your marketing efforts. When it comes to your customers, word of mouth can work one way or the other and it’s up to you to ensure that the way it works is not against your business.

The introduction of social networking has created a proverbially boundless platform for word of mouth to work. Many people use these blogs and forums to complain, making it possible for the word of a few to turn into the complete bashing of your company if customer care is not what it should be.

On the flip side of the coin, word of mouth can work to take your referrals to heights never seen when just one person used a social medium to praise their experience dealing with you. The answer to whether word of mouth provides help or harm is all up to how you treat your customers. The happier they are, the better they will talk about your goods or services.
