1. Quality content and structure are a MUST. Keep it accurate and up to date and avoid frames as well as overuse of Flash and other sripting technology.
2. Create an effective link strategy with multiple links to and from potential sites. Also cross link your own site with anchor text for all links.
3. Use the proper meta tags such as page titles, keywords and descriptions.
