There are some key factors that every great marketing plan includes. They range from structured sales processes to marketing mix and adequate budget allocations but that’s not all. If you’re wondering whether or not your marketing plan is ready, you need to have knowledge of your competition, target market and brand position as well as have taken a review of your past failures and successes.

Additionally, no marketing plan should move forward without being audited. Start by assigning this process to someone other than yourself. Next, you must define the audit criteria. Goals such as implementation, research, sales processes and budget must be clearly defined in your marketing plan before it is released.

Take the audit criteria and turn it into a marketing plan template where a scoring system can be used to help determine the readiness of your marketing plan. Remember, every recommendation does not have to be implemented but should be thoroughly considered before disregarding.
