You know that leads are those prospects who are most likely to purchase your goods or services. But do you know how to qualify a lead quickly and easily? Sometimes there can be a fine line between a prospect that is successfully converted into a lead and one that turns out to be nothing more than a tire kicker.

These three easy steps will help you to create a lead qualification checklist for use with all future prospects:

Step 1 – Analyze your prospects. Look for similarities they share with your best existing customers.

Step 2 – Gather basic contact information and at least 7 characteristics that are critical to have. Make sure you share this list with your sales people.

Step 3 – Creating a hierarchy ranking where existing and new prospects are gauged by the characteristics developed in step 2. Make sure that you are not neglecting good leads or spending too much time on cold leads that have no potential.
